Specialist Technical Vehicles
Specialist vehicles make extreme demands on the power, control and data systems: Cash in Transit, Outside Broadcast, Emergency Command and Control or Communications. Designing these vehicles has much in common but also draws upon specific knowledge of the application. This is where Antares can support you.

Intelligent Power Distribution using CANbus Multiplex
As a technical vehicle designer your vehicle often requires control beyond the scope of a simple fuse board and relays. For example, introducing timing to provide courtesy lights, control over climate settings, seatbelt safety warnings, interlocks to make sure vehicles don’t drive away until equipment is safely stowed away and a myriad of other tasks.
Our partnership with Class, provides you with the ES-Key solid state multiplex system, which has been designed from the outset to be used in the vehicular environment. It is user friendly and a field proven system. Applications in vehicles such as cash in transit, airport passenger buses, drilling rigs and road-rail vehicles have all been successfully undertaken. |
Antares DC Power Management and “Virtual Alternator” Technique
High power on vehicles requires high currents to be handled. Antares have a full range of split charge, isolation, auxiliary battery protect, engine start protect products which can be mixed and matched.
Our DC converters can be combined with the above to create what we call a “virtual alternator”. This technique is used to provide a controlled optimal charging regime right next to a battery - as if you had a separate alternator. |
Powering AC Equipment on the Move
Technical vehicles have equipment which operate whilst on the move or when stationary. Antares have an unrivalled range of solutions. Static Inverters are used to provide power from batteries. Dynamic inverters such as our belt driven Dynawatt or PTO driven Dynagen can provide up to 15kW power directly from the engine and gearbox.
We have a range of vehicle inlet solutions for vehicle landline connection to the grid. |
