The Virtual Alternator overcomes the problem of correctly charging auxiliary batteries, wherever they are situated on the vehicle, tractor or trailer.

Cable volt drop, temperature variation, location, battery technology and more recently SMART charging all demand a unique charging regime at the auxiliary battery. This is invariably different from the charging regime optimised for the vehicle chassis start battery.

Early methods involved modifying the OEM alternator.  However the Antares Virtual alternator requires no intervention, avoiding potential warranty problems - but still utilises the full power of the alternator.

Alternatively the unit can also be split into two channels and used to provide a 24V battery charging and power supply on a 12V chassis.
