Decentralised Rural Electrification
The aim of the project was to establish and implement, sustainable decentralised off-grid electricity generation which promotes development and improves well-being in rural communities in East Africa.
A rural village in Kitonyoni, Kenya is a village with a population of 3000. The village had no electricity or water 1 month ago. . . Now they have a robust off-grid power system which has helped to save lives. Southampton University and Energy for Development were the project leads. We were tasked with creating and installing the power system in to the half container which also served as transport for the remaining equipment. Part of the scope involved the design and installation of lightning protection. |
