One of our AAI partners has designed an innovative solution into the supermarket industry that reduces their delivery costs while maintaining the correct temperature needed during chilled and frozen deliveries. We worked with them and have provided a safe, cost saving system as a working prototype for the trials that are currently underway. Royal Mail chooses to save costs with trial Antares trailer power system
The Royal Mail had a problem with their double-deck trailers - the power that was available at the alternator simply wasn't getting through to the batteries in the articulated trailer, resulting in them not being able to lift and lower the inner deck as expected.
The Antares battery booster unit was fitted to a sample trailer and is still working perfectly. Utilising this approach means that Royal mail need only have the battery booster fitted to the 80 or so trailers in the fleet rather than on all 1100 tractor units that could be used to pull them - and the battery boosters would also work with the "spot-hire" rigs that they hire for the Christmas rush.
