Mains electricity is often required on-board vehicles and in remote applications to drive tools, computers, air-conditioning, refrigeration and other specialised loads where a mains connection is not always practical or possible.
The Multi-plus and Quattro produce a true sinewave output from a battery. They convert power at very high efficiency to give the maximum possible running time from the battery. Compact size, light weight and high efficiency is achieved by using high frequency output circuitry.
The Multi-plus and Quattro also act as a high output battery charger and seamless transfer switch when an external AC connection (grid or gen-set) is available, limiting the total AC current draw to a preset level. This limit can be either be preset and programmed into the unit, or set with a remote panel according to the available connection.
If the electric consumers attempt to draw more power than is allowed by the current limit, the inverter will PowerAssist, working in parallel with the incoming mains supply to boost power to the required level. This paralleling can also be used to run up to 6 multiplus or quattro units together to give previously unthought of power levels.
3 Multiplus or Quattro units can also be linked to provide 3 phase power, again with up to 6 units in parallel per phase. A system using the 48V 10kW units can give up to 180kW of 3phase AC power! However on road-going vehicles the size, weight and cost of batteries to run such a system would be impractical.
Larger Multiplus units have a second AC outlet which is only powered by the incoming AC, and is disconnected whenever the inverter starts to drain the batteries. Quattro units also integrate a seamless AC transfer between 2 prioritised AC inlets (eg Grid power and Gen-set) and the inverter, offering PowerAssist on both inputs.
