ASM3 advanced chosen by London Ambulance Service for their front line A+E vehicles!
ASM3 (Auxiliary System Manager 3) is the latest battery management and control system from Antares that provides 5 year battery life. This system offers all the benefits of the original Mercedes Ambulance Power pack, and has been designed in a modular way and can be easily standardized across any chassis type (not just Mercedes Sprinter) and therfore across the entire front-line fleet.
The system is suitable for any emergency vehicle application or any fleet where reliability and longevity is a priority, and by specifying Antares ASM3 as the equipment that is added to the vehicle, the fleet manager is in total control of the integrity of battery management of the vehicle and the associated reduction in operational costs. The ASM3 "advanced" power manager is supplied as a complete kit with batteries x 4, inverter, on-board charger, Antares crank-inhibt mains inlet, battery temp sensors, virtual alernator, auto-split charge, battery protect modules, auto emergency start capability, auto-resetting fuses, carnation load-shed request data connection, Auto-eject driver (just add auto-eject socket), built-in diagnostic system, all cable looms, all power cables and assemblies and comes ready for installation. Nothing else needs to be added, and this simple "plug to plug" installation into the vehicle reduces fitting time and increases reliability.

The Virtual Alternator overcomes the problem of how to charge auxiliary batteries correctly, wherever they are situated on the vehicle, especially when engine run-time is in short supply.
Cable volt drop, temperature variation, location and battery technology all demand a unique charging regime at the aux battery. This is invariably different from the what the OEM alternator gives which will be optimised for the cranking battery.
Where the VA is mounted a long way from the aux battery, or if the aux battery is mounted "outside" temperature sensors can also be added.
The VA system also includes auto-split-charge, aux battery protect, auto isolate, emergency start and manual on/off for the aux loads.

Yorkshire Ambulance choose Antares Power cell system
Yorkshire Ambulance trust and Antares are working together to show how much diesel can be saved by not using the tradditional "runlock" system to ensure that RRVs can guarantee engine-start ability 24/7 365 days a year.
The system consists of three main parts: the auxiliary battery, the fuel cell itself, and the Virtual Alternator system above. The deep-cycle gel battery has the best service life of any auxiliary battery (as part of a balanced solution), and only if correctly and fully charged-up between uses. The Virtual alternator System optimises the alternator output to charge the aux battery much faster and better than the alternator alone could do. The fuel cell means that the RRVs can be left safe, secure and unattended, with their radio systems on but without the engine running, and the Antares Power cell steps in as required to ensure that the batteries are always fully charged and the engine WILL start!
And all of this is projected to pay for itself in 8 months, and pays for the base vehicle over it's 3 year life.

230V and 110V AC mains are becoming a more common requirement on-board, so a safe design of AC inlet is imperative. Antares have created the AC Inlet system with:
· IP66 weatherproof connection when not in use
· a “plug connected” interlock to prevent accidental drive-aways
· Optional AC present/ battery charger indicator lamps at the point of connection.
The system can be used as a stand alone unit for any AC connection to the vehicle or specifically for use with the Antares UPC universal power charger.
Correctly installed, the AC system is CEN1789:2000 compliant. The unit is designed to be sited externally on a vehicle panel. When installed correctly, the IP66 rating gives protection against road spray and contaminants from the external weather.
